The FBI has advised to not text from Apple devices to Android or vice versa. IPhone to IPhone, or Google messaging are both okay, they are encrypted end to end. Also Facebook messenger and several other apps are fine as they are also encrypted end to end. Encrypted end to end means the only ones able to read them are each other. Regular SMS is NOT encrypted end to end.
